Hear2Move
Move with confidence.
Guided by sound.
An adapted physical activity programme and audio-guided fitness app designed to help people with visual impairments engage in physical activity more safely, independently and confidently.
Physical activity should not depend on sight.
People with low vision can encounter barriers in accessing safe, usable and welcoming exercise opportunities. Hear2Move is designed to address these barriers by connecting adapted exercise design, real-world validation and inclusive mobile technology.
Who is it designed for?
The project focuses on people classified as B2 or B3 under IBSA visual-sport classifications and on moderate or severe low-vision groups described in the project brief. Activities will be adapted and tested with feedback from participants with visual impairments.
What makes it different?
The intervention begins with an adapted physical activity programme, not a pre-built app. Exercises are to be tested first; validated content will then inform an accessible, voice-led mobile experience with intuitive navigation and clearly structured instructions.
A practical four-stage pathway
A planned sequence that combines exercise science, co-design, inclusive development and evaluation.
Design the programme
Build a structured set of adapted exercises with scientific and accessibility expertise, centred on user needs and safe participation.
Test in real settings
Pilot exercises with visually impaired participants; refine instructions and difficulty in response to feedback.
Create the mobile app
Translate validated exercises into accessible audio guidance, straightforward controls and a navigable fitness interface.
Pilot, measure & share
Run digital pilots across five partner countries and evaluate usability, accessibility, wellbeing and participant experiences.
What Hear2Move aims to deliver
Adapted exercise library
A participant-informed physical activity programme, with exercises assessed for practicality, clarity, accessibility and safety.
Audio-guided mobile app
A planned fitness tool with spoken guidance and accessible navigation designed for users with visual impairments.
Evidence & engagement
Cross-country pilot findings, pre-/post-evaluations and dissemination to researchers, sport providers and stakeholders.
Accessible movement is about autonomy, wellbeing and equal opportunity.
Co-design → Test → Adapt → Listen → Measure → Improve.
The consortium
Seven organisations combine university research, sport and inclusion expertise, digital development and civil-society participation. The coordinating grant beneficiary is Kahramanmaraş Sütçü İmam University (KSU).
