KATSURA – Active Ageing Through Movement
Keeping Adults Trained, Self-motivated to Undertake Reliable Active Ageing

Project Overview
KATSURA addresses the decline in physical activity that many adults experience as work, family responsibilities and everyday routines take priority. Reduced participation in sport can affect physical fitness and overall well-being, making accessible and sustainable ways to stay active especially important.
The project introduces the Katsura System (KS), a holistic approach inspired by non-competitive traditional Far Eastern martial arts and mindful movement. It combines simple physical exercises with attention to breathing, body awareness and a respectful connection with others and the environment.
Activities are designed to be adaptable to daily life — at home, at work or during free time — encouraging adults to make physical activity part of a healthier, more active lifestyle.
Project Objectives
Support adults in maintaining regular, accessible physical activity throughout life.
Introduce movements that can be integrated into ordinary routines without specialised facilities.
Combine movement, breathing and awareness to support physical and mental well-being.
Offer an approachable, non-competitive method that encourages continued engagement.
